HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 42

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to
appoint a study commission composed of three members from
each house and three residents and citizens of West Virginia
who have at least five years' experience each in the
property and casualty insurance industry, appointed by the
president and speaker, to undertake a study of the board of
risk and insurance management.
Whereas, The board of risk and insurance management
administers insurance programs for the State, its political
subdivisions and voluntary associations; and
Whereas, The proper management, supervision and control of the
insurance of state property is vital and important to all
citizens of the State of West Virginia; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
requested to appoint a study commission composed of three members
from each house, with no more than two members from the same
political party, and three residents and citizens of West
Virginia who have at least five years' experience each in the
property and casualty insurance industry, appointed by the
president and speaker, to review, examine and study the board ofrisk and insurance management; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the said Joint Committee on
Government and Finance report to the regular session of the
Legislature, 1996, on its findings, conclusions and
recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation
necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct
this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary
legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint
Committee on Government and Finance.
